*The Wayans brothers revisited some unresolved tension during a recent press run, after a question from “The Morning Hustle” brought comedian Aries Spears into the discussion while they promoted “Scary Movie 6.”
As Complex reports, Spears had previously called Shawn Wayans “arrogant” and, in a 2024 DJ Vlad interview, questioned whether his talent measured up to his “diva” attitude.
“Oh yeah, he’s an idiot and a bitch,” Shawn said on “The Morning Hustle,” with his brother Marlon adding, “Sometimes, you bring out the animal inside of people. We keep our mouths shut.”
From there, Shawn laid out the fuller backstory. His silence at the time of Spears’ original remarks had nothing to do with respect and everything to do with indifference. The deeper irritant, he explained, was that Spears had come to him looking for work.

“I didn’t go back and forth with him at the time because I didn’t care, but now that you bring it up, he’s a bitch for that because he was begging to get inside of one of our movies or TV shows,” Shawn said. “I hooked him up and put him on a cartoon that we did, The Boo Crew. I realized how crazy he was.”
Marlon’s issues with Spears had their own origin point. “I had a beef with DJ Vlad,” he revealed. “Vlad asked him a question about the situation, and Aries always got something smart to say. Don’t talk about my money or value or what I feel. As a Black man, you should never do that because one day, you’re going to be in that position.”
The situation turned out to be almost predictive. “Lo and behold, eight months later, he and DJ Vlad are beefing about him wanting money from Vlad,” Marlon added.
He also had a message aimed directly at Spears. “As men, you got our number, Aries, holla,” Marlon said.
