*Retired NFL star Shaun Alexander recently shared exciting personal and professional updates. On the show “Up & Adams,” the 2005 NFL MVP announced that he and his wife, Valerie, are expecting their 14th child.
“We’re just now starting to tell people,” the Seahawks’ all-time leading rusher said, “but No. 14 is in the belly.”
As The New York Post reports, this new addition will join their large family, which includes children named Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Joseph, Justus, Temple, Honor, Jedidiah, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, and Judea, though the couple tragically lost their daughter, Torah, in 2017, just 70 days after her birth.
Alexander, 48, also discussed his involvement with the Harvest Covenant, a faith-based educational program for homeschooled children that includes a football team he coaches. During the conversation with host Kay Adams, he reflected on his growing family, which ties him with former NFL player Antonio Cromartie for having 14 children, surpassing Philip Rivers’ 10.
“You know what? It’s really wild,” Alexander said, highlighting the rarity of such a large family in the NFL world. Adams playfully remarked, “I want you to look at this: Philip Rivers, get to work. That’s what I want to say. Philip steals headlines with 10. You only have 10 children. Philip, get a grip. We should take his Hall of Fame away and give it to you.”
The former running back’s storied NFL career bolsters his case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where he is currently one of 128 finalists. “You know, I want my kids to see the Hall of Fame,” Alexander said. “Am I asking too much?”
Through his faith-driven initiative and growing family, Alexander continues to leave a lasting impact both on and off the field.
