*Serena Williams is flaunting her sculpted physique in a striking black swimsuit for the latest cover story on NET-A-PORTER’s digital platform, PORTER, published December 1.
US magazine reports that the 44-year-old tennis legend wore an Alaïa design featuring a high neckline, a midriff cutout, and paired with matching Alaïa heels and diamond-accented gold earrings by Pariah. During her conversation with PORTER, Williams reflected on not knowing “how to deal” with the criticism she faced early in her career regarding her body. “It was hard because when I was playing in the beginning – the first 15 years – my body was different,” she explained. “I had big boobs; I had a big butt. Every athlete was, like, super flat, super thin and beautiful, but in a different way. And I didn’t understand as an athlete how to deal with that.”
Williams added, “It does affect you mentally. Absolutely. You think you’re large for your whole life and you look [back] and you’re like, I was fit. Yeah, I had big muscles. I didn’t look like these other girls but not everyone looks the same.”

Williams has remained busy off the court, including serving as a co-producer for Alicia Keys’ ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Broadway musical. In November, she attended the Baby2Baby gala, where she was honored with the “Giving Tree Award” for her maternal health advocacy. Williams also received recognition from the Princess of Asturias Awards for Sports in Spain, sharing on Instagram, “I never had a welcome like this. I was so humbled. This is the official welcome for the Princess of Asturias Awards for Sports in northern Spain.”

Her packed schedule has fueled speculation about a possible tennis comeback after she reentered the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s (ITIA) International Registered Testing Pool. An ITIA spokesperson, Adrian Bassett, told The Athletic, “I do not know if this means she is coming back, or just giving herself the option. All I can say is she’s back in the pool and therefore subject to whereabouts.”
Williams quickly denied a return on X, posting, “Omg yall I’m NOT coming back. This is wildfire crazy—” yet fans continue to express hope she might play again.
