*Serena Williams is embracing a new role as a co-producer for the Broadway musical “Hell’s Kitchen,” inspired by Alicia Keys’ early life in New York City.
The tennis icon is diving into theater production for the first time. While her specific contributions remain undisclosed, her involvement aligns with the show’s preparations for a North American tour starting in Cleveland, Ohio, next month, MadameNoire reports.
Williams expressed her enthusiasm in a news release, stating, “I was blown away when I saw HELL’S KITCHEN on Broadway last summer. I am proud to join the producing team of my first ever Broadway show and support Alicia and the amazing company of HELL’S KITCHEN as they get ready to light up the country on tour. Go see HELL’S KITCHEN when it comes to a city near you!”

Keys, who wrote the music and lyrics for “Hell’s Kitchen,” began developing the show in 2011, with its Broadway debut in 2024. She shared her excitement about Williams’ involvement, saying, “Our show is all about dreaming big and there is no one who embodies that spirit quite like Serena Williams.”
The Grammy-winning superstar added, “I am so excited to have Serena join the HELL’S KITCHEN family as a co-producer as we begin our North American tour…it just keeps getting better! We’re so grateful! Let’s go!!!”
Directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, “Hell’s Kitchen” chronicles the journey of its lead character, Ali, whose rebellious spirit is maintained by her overprotective single mother. “Ali is lost until she meets her mentor: a neighbor who opens her heart and mind to the power of the piano,” according to a description of the play from its official website.
The musical has garnered significant acclaim, earning 13 Tony nominations in 2024 and securing two wins. “Hell’s Kitchen” earned a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album earlier this year.
The “Hell’s Kitchen” tour will visit over 30 cities, according to Deadline.
