*Selena Gomez is opening up about her early celebrity crush, and it’s not who you might expect.
During a sit-down with Karol G for a new episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, the singer and actress revealed that she had a childhood crush on none other than hip-hop legend Ice Cube.
“But can I tell you my first one that I had a crush on? Ice Cube,” said Gomez, per Complex. “I had the biggest crush on him. I was, like, five. It’s so weird but I just thought he would protect me … I’m only saying it simply based on my childhood.”
The revelation came as the 32-year-old singer/actress and Karol G shared their picks for the greatest rappers of all time. Gomez noted her admiration for Eminem, saying, “One of mine was Eminem only because I grew up listening to my dad, who was a DJ. He would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song I would just get so excited.”
Gomez is currently engaged to producer Benny Blanco, with whom she released the collaborative album I Said I Love You First earlier this year. Watch her GOAT Talk interview below.

Meanwhile, Ice Cube is preparing to hit the road for his Truth to Power: 4 Decades of Attitude tour, his first solo headlining trek in more than a decade.
Spanning 22 dates, the Live Nation-produced tour kicks off September 4 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and includes stops in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, and Toronto.
“Truth to Power is more than a tour, it’s a 40-year celebration,” Cube said in a statement. “The world needs truth. The people need power. And that’s what my music brings.”
