*A Wisconsin brewery is facing both criticism and increased business following a provocative social media promotion.
Minocqua Brewing Company posted an offer on Facebook on January 22 that many interpreted as targeting President Donald Trump, though the company initially avoided naming him directly. The post promised free beer to customers who present the message when a certain event occurs. “Free beer, all day long, the day he dies. Show us this post when it happens in a few months and we’ll make good on that promise,” the brewery wrote. The company’s Facebook page has regularly criticized both the president and ICE.
When Fox News reached out for clarification, owner Kirk Bangstad confirmed the brewery’s intentions. “Apparently Fox News wants to interview us about our upcoming ‘celebration of life’ party, in which we promised free beer for the whole day when he finally dies,” the brewery stated in their response. They added, “Here’s our response. If you’d also like to send Lindsay Kornick a quote that she can use for her upcoming state propaganda article, you now have her email and work phone.”

Bangstad’s official statement included strong political rhetoric, describing the subject as a “twice-impeached convicted felon covering up for the largest child sex ring in the history of the United States — someone who has enabled his contemporary American Gestapo to brutally murder two American protesters in a matter of weeks.”
The company claims Americans “will be celebrating” the day Trump dies.
Bangstad concluded his message with conditions for attendance the free beer event, stating: “No red hats allowed. Give your bosses at Faux News my best. Kirk Bangstad, Owner, Minocqua Brewing Company.”
The brewery later addressed Fox News’ coverage of the controversy, suggesting widespread support for their position. They characterized the network’s viewership as a “shrinking audience of manipulatable deplorables, who we already refuse to serve,” and acknowledged the promotion’s impact on business. “Thanks Fox, you’ve done wonders for our sales in the last few days,” they wrote.
