*Kevin Hart discussed celebrity roasts during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! following his Netflix Is a Joke Festival special. He reflected on the tradition and said future participants must be “brave enough” and a “real big name.”
Kimmel asked about Oprah Winfrey as a potential roast subject. Hart paused without speaking, shaking his head as laughter broke out in the studio. Kimmel joked “Would that be unacceptable? That’d be like spray painting the Sistine Chapel?” Hart said if Oprah agreed he would rush to her house and say “You cannot do this. No shot.”
Hart was roasted at Netflix Is a Joke Festival last month. Participants included Chelsea Handler, Pete Davidson, Katt Williams, Dwayne Johnson and Tom Brady.
Hart highlighted a segment from Dwayne Johnson involving photos of their fathers, saying “Look at my dad. Kev, we both love our dads.” Johnson showed his father Rocky Johnson alongside an image of Hart’s father Henry Robert Witherspoon. Hart called his father’s photo “the worst picture of my father I’ve ever seen.”

He said it was funny despite the shock. He added: “Anything done with the effort of giving a laugh, I’m always going to give it the benefit of the doubt. All the stuff said about me, you know, I’m like, look, it is what it is. They’re jokes at the end of the day.”
