*A campaign spot from U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett has become the subject of heated online discussion after allegations emerged that it features AI-generated visuals. The roughly 32-second ad launched on Super Bowl Sunday as Crockett campaigns for U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s seat in the Texas Democratic primary.
As The Houston Chronicle reports, the clip opens with an anime-style rendering of President Donald Trump gazing at monitors that appear to display ICE agents conducting immigration operations. The ad then transitions to Crockett on screen, flanked by supporters. That closing image has become the focal point of the dispute.
Democratic strategist Keith Edwards took to X with the accusation, claiming the crowd depicted alongside Crockett was fabricated using Google’s AI platform Gemini. He asserted that the image contained a SynthID watermark, a concealed digital tag that Google embeds in content produced by its AI systems. “”The final shot in Jasmine Crockett’s new ad doesn’t feature Texas voters—it’s an image generated by Google’s AI, Gemini,” he wrote.
Super Bowl Sunday felt like the right time to remind folks what real team work looks like.
I’ve always believed Texas is full of heroes. Not the movie kind… the real kind. The teachers. The workers. The parents. The folks showing up every single day trying to build a better… pic.twitter.com/GLE6IUZYtO

Crockett’s campaign offered no direct confirmation or denial when Chron sought comment. “Our new ad was created through hundreds of hours of real craft and collaboration between creatives and union labor. The ad is a deliberate and meaningful attempt to connect with new voters and energize the electorate,” a spokesperson responded.
Public opinion on social media was divided. Some questioned why the campaign avoided giving a straight answer, while others saw the entire controversy as overblown. “How is this shocking when AI is shoved down our throats every day, all day?” one X user posted.
