*The FBI will assume sole responsibility for investigating the death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during an operation in Minneapolis.
According to NBC News, officials announced Thursday that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will not participate in the probe, despite initial expectations of joint involvement.
Good’s death during the immigration enforcement action has generated widespread public anger and conflicting accounts of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Shortly after the incident, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated the woman ignored orders to exit her vehicle before attempting to run over the officer, potentially causing death or injury.
State and local leaders have disputed the federal government’s version of events, with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz characterizing the narrative as a “propaganda machine.”

Governor Walz expressed doubt about achieving justice through a federal investigation. State authorities had anticipated working alongside the FBI before learning federal officials excluded them from the case. “It feels very, very difficult that we will get a fair outcome,” Walz said. “And I say that only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment, from the president to the vice president, to Kristi Noem have stood and told you things that are verifiably false, verifiably inaccurate. They have determined the character of a 37-year-old mom that they didn’t even know.”
Walz further stated that Noem had assumed the role of “judge, jury, and basically executioner yesterday.”
Meanwhile, Noem disclosed that the ICE agent involved in the shooting received hospital treatment after being struck by Good’s vehicle and has since been released. “He had acted appropriately to protect his life and the life of his colleagues and fellow law enforcement officers,” Noem said.

President Donald Trump weighed in on the incident through a Truth Social post, stating Good “viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who is now recovering in a hospital.
“I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” Trump wrote.
Vice President JD Vance also defended the ICE agent on X, describing him as “doing his job.”
In response to an attorney’s post about the shooting, Vance wrote: “A tragedy? Absolutely. But a tragedy that falls on this woman and all of the radicals who teach people that immigration is the one type of law that rioters are allowed to interfere with.” In another post, Vance questioned whether congressional Democrats would consider the officer wrong in defending his life against a deranged leftist who tried to run him over?”
