*Legendary singer Dionne Warwick is returning with a new duet alongside Emmy, Tony, and Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo as part of what Warwick says will be the final album of her 65-year career.
Warwick announced on March 9 that “Ocean in the Desert” will be released March 20 as the first single from her forthcoming album “DWuets.” The track marks the first time the two artists have recorded together, blending Warwick’s timeless elegance with Erivo’s contemporary Broadway and film star power.
A final chapter with legendary collaborators
“DWuets” represents the final album of Warwick’s remarkable 65-year recording career. According to representatives, the project features a series of high-profile duet partners, though additional collaborators have not yet been announced.
The album carries special significance beyond its star-studded lineup. All songs were written by 17-time Oscar nominee Diane Warren, marking the first time Warwick and the prolific songwriter have worked together. The album title “DWuets” pays homage to both women’s initials.
“It was such a joy to be in the studio harmonizing with such a talented entertainer as Cynthia,” Warwick said in a statement. “We immediately bonded and had so much fun recording this beautiful song.”

Behind the music
Grammy-winning producer Damon Elliott (Dionne’s son), who has worked with artists ranging from Beyoncé to Patti LaBelle, produced all the album’s duets. The single will be released through Elliott Entertainment in partnership with Vydia, a gamma company.
Artist Marcus Glenn, who served as the official artist for the 56th Grammy Awards, created all artwork for the project including the album cover and individual single covers. According to representatives, these will be physical art pieces that will later be auctioned.
“The experience of watching all of these young legends working with a real living legend like Dionne Warwick was a thrill to watch,” Elliott remarked. “Mom picked the lock for them and they paid respect to one of the greatest artists ever.”

Two artists at career peaks
Warwick’s legacy is firmly established. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide and six Grammy wins, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2023. She ranks among Billboard’s 40 biggest US hitmakers and is the second most-charted female vocalist of the rock era.
Erivo arrives at the collaboration fresh off her acclaimed performance as Elphaba in the record-breaking film adaptation of “WICKED,” which earned her Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA, and Academy Award nominations. She is currently performing in the West End one-woman show “DRACULA,” where she plays 23 characters.
The “DWuets” album represents a full-circle moment for Warwick, who continues to tour nationwide and in Europe while maintaining her famously outspoken social media presence that has earned her the unofficial title “Queen of Twitter” and recurring Saturday Night Live parodies.
With “Ocean in the Desert” arriving March 20, fans will get their first taste of what promises to be a fitting final chapter for one of music’s most enduring voices.
