*A fiery on-air exchange between Ana Navarro and conservative commentator Shermichael Singleton erupted on CNN, forcing the network to cut to a commercial break as tensions boiled over during a heated immigration debate.
As SandraRose.com reports, the clash began during a discussion about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old Salvadoran man deported under the Trump administration. Navarro expressed sympathy for Abrego Garcia, whom she believes was wrongfully deported, prompting pushback from Singleton.
“If you come in illegally, you have to leave. Americans are tired of that. We don’t have unlimited resources… We have to care for our own people,” Singleton said.
Navarro countered, arguing that many people, including those outside the Black community, had entered the U.S. unlawfully. “There’s a hell of a lot of Americans, other than Black people who were brought here as slaves, who came to this country illegally,” she said.
That remark triggered Singleton, who raised his voice in protest: “They are not the same as Black people who were brought here against our will! They decide to walk their way across the border, there is a big difference!”

CNN anchor Abby Phillip attempted to clarify Navarro’s point, saying Singleton had misunderstood her, but the back-and-forth only escalated. “Great. Congratulations. Last time I checked, I’m Black. You’re not, okay,” Singleton snapped.
Navarro shot back: “That’s right. I’m Latino and my people are being racially profiled.”
As the shouting continued, Singleton challenged Navarro: “Do I have to remind you the history of my people? Do you really wanna go there?”
Phillip, unable to regain control of the segment, ultimately cut to a commercial in an attempt to defuse the moment.
