Crystal Wilsey Defends Racism by Citing Her ‘Colored’ Son
*Crystal Wilsey, the now-infamous Wisconsin Cinnabon employee caught on video hurling racial slurs, has come up with a bold defense. According to the NY Post, in a TikTok she posted after being fired, she claimed she can’t be racist because her son was “colored.”
“P.S., to the racism, if you look at my Facebook from 2010, you’ll see on there that I have a blended family, and my son was colored,” Wilsey said. Unfortunately for her, no one missed that the term “colored” hasn’t been acceptable since about 1972.
She Then Blames It All on Addison’s Disease
After her eyebrow-raising comment drew backlash, Wilsey tried another approach. She claimed her son’s darker skin was actually due to Addison’s disease, a rare adrenal condition.
“Addison’s disease, and he was discriminated called chocolate because he had brown skin – explanation of racism,” she wrote. So, she doesn’t have a Black child after all—just one with a misunderstood medical diagnosis.

Cinnabon Employee Caught on Video Spewing Hate. Is Trump to Blame?
This saga began when Wilsey, 43, was filmed attacking a Somali Muslim couple at a Wisconsin mall Cinnabon. She mocked the woman’s hijab, used the N-word several times, and proudly declared, “I am racist, and I’ll say it to the whole entire world.”
The video went viral. Cinnabon quickly fired her and condemned the behavior as “deeply troubling” and “unacceptable.” But Wilsey claims she was provoked and only lashed out in “sarcastic irony.”
Newsweek notes that the incident comes after recent attacks on the Somali community by President Donald Trump.
His comments have raised concerns about discrimination against Somali Americans, especially as federal authorities are reportedly preparing a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota that would focus primarily on Somali immigrants living unlawfully in the United States.

Wilsey says she only claimed to be racist to “throw it back” at the couple. She compared her rant to “edgy comedy” and said her diverse group of friends proves she isn’t prejudiced.
But the woman who filmed the incident responded online: “Sarcasm? You smiled while saying it and flipped us off. That’s not a joke—that’s hate.”
Over $110K Raised for Wilsey by Supporters
Despite the backlash, a GiveSendGo fundraiser in Wilsey’s name has raised more than $110,000. On the other hand, her victims have only been able to raise $15,000.
Supporters of Wilsey claim she was “harassed” by the Somali couple and wrongly fired. The donation page reads: “No White person should lose their job for refusing to be harassed by Somalians.” Apparently, racist meltdowns now come with reward money.

Fired from her job, publicly shamed, and yet still financially supported, Wilsey has become a strange symbol. She joins the growing list of people who go viral for hate, then cash in on controversy.
