*The family of Bryan Bostic, joined by the National Action Network and a coalition of civil rights organizations, will hold a press conference on TODAY, Tuesday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. outside Inglewood City Hall (1 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90301).
Their demand is immediate and unequivocal: the release of the names of the Inglewood Police officers involved in the physical assault of Bryan Bostic during a traffic stop on March 10. The family believes this violent encounter directly led to his death.
Disturbing video evidence from the incident shows Bostic restrained by multiple officers, with knees pressed into his back as he repeatedly cried out, “I can’t breathe.”
The footage raises serious concerns about excessive force and departmental accountability.
“These rogue officers must be identified and held responsible,” said Najee Ali, Senior Organizer for the National Action Network.

The case draws painful parallels to the death of George Floyd, where a similar knee-to-body restraint led to a preventable loss of life. Now, the coalition is demanding four immediate actions: the release of all involved officers’ names, a full review of their records for prior misconduct, the immediate implementation of body-worn cameras for all Inglewood Police officers, and the restoration of the Inglewood Police Oversight Commission—which was dismantled under Mayor James T. Butts Jr. and has not met in nearly nine years.
The Bostic family and Inglewood residents deserve transparency from Mayor Butts and Police Chief Mark Fronterotta. Instead, the coalition reports silence, deflection, and what appears to be a coordinated smear campaign against the victim. Chief Fronterotta has yet to publicly address the incident, raising serious concerns about leadership. “This lack of accountability suggests a troubling attempt to cover up the death of Bryan Bostic at the highest levels of Inglewood city leadership,” Ali added. “The community demands answers. The family demands justice.”
