Ryan Coogler’s genre-bending vampire thriller “Sinners” dominated the AAFCA Awards 2026. The film led the organization’s Top 10 Films of the Year list.
Depending on category counts, “Sinners” earned seven to eight total awards. The sweep solidified its status as a critical favorite.

Coogler accepted the Best Film award with visible emotion. He reflected on his lifelong commitment to cinema.
“I believe that film is a language,” Coogler, whose film is also nominated for a record 16 Academy Awards, said when accepting his award for Best Film. “And I consider myself, as a filmmaker, fluent in cinematic language. And I’ve dedicated my life to it.”

Coogler also won Best Director and Best Screenplay at the AAFCA Awards 2026. Critics praised the film’s blend of horror, drama, and cultural depth.
