*Paramount Pictures will bring Teyana Taylor’s first feature-length directing project to theaters in spring 2027. “Get Lite” is set to arrive next year nationwide April 9, 2027.
As Variety reports, the story follows a skillful but sheltered dance student whose life transforms after encountering unexpected sources of inspiration, romance and belonging within New York City’s subway stations. Storm Reid takes the leading role while also producing through A Seed & Wings Productions with Robyn Simpson.
Kenya Barris and Anni Weisband will produce via Khalabo Ink Society, joined by Bill Karesh from Offbrnd. Taylor assumes an executive producer role for the production.

This announcement comes as Taylor experiences remarkable career momentum following her acclaimed turn in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.” She claimed the Golden Globe for best supporting actress and earned nominations from SAG-AFTRA’s Actor Awards, BAFTA and the Academy Awards.
Taylor received the Creative Impact in Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards brunch on January 4, celebrating her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills. The character, a resistance fighter who left her newborn daughter behind only to reemerge sixteen years later amid conspiratorial events, resonated deeply with audiences.
When asked about potential follow-up projects exploring Perfidia’s journey, Taylor showed clear interest in continuing the storyline through sequels, spinoffs or expanded narratives alongside co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn.
“He could have pulled a ‘Wicked!'” she said of Anderson, adding, “You could literally merge the other pieces, get a few new scenes with me — and then drop it, drop it like a mixtape!”
