*Santa Claus is trading presents for punches once again.
Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for “Violent Night 2,” bringing David Harbour back as the battle-hardened Kris Kringle who became an unlikely action hero in the 2022 holiday hit. The preview promises another mix of explosive action, dark comedy and Christmas spirit as Santa faces a new enemy while rediscovering what the holiday is truly about.
This time, the story shifts to Silver Bell Mall, where a ruthless gangster, played by Jared Harris, has terrorized local merchants. As chaos spreads through the shopping center, Santa steps in to protect the community, only to discover his Christmas magic has faded.
Without his usual powers, Santa must rely on his combat skills while reconnecting with the values that once defined him. He also receives help from an unexpected ally when Mrs. Claus, portrayed by Kristen Bell, joins the fight against the criminals threatening the mall.

The sequel follows the events of the original “Violent Night,” in which Harbour’s embittered Santa used his brutal fighting skills to rescue a young girl and her wealthy family from a team of armed mercenaries during a Christmas Eve home invasion.
Tommy Wirkola returns to direct the follow-up, reuniting with producers Kelly McCormick and David Leitch of 87North, the production company behind action films including “John Wick,” “Bullet Train,” “The Fall Guy,” “Atomic Blonde” and the “Nobody” franchise. Returning screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller also reunite for the sequel.
In addition to Harbour, Harris and Bell, the cast includes Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, Andrew Bachelor and AEW wrestler Maxwell Friedman.
Universal Pictures will release “Violent Night 2” exclusively in theaters on December 4. Watch the trailer above.
