*What many assumed was a backstage blowup between two major music figures has turned out to be something far less dramatic. Da Brat took to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show this week to address the swirling speculation about Usher and Justin Bieber’s encounter at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party, armed with firsthand information straight from Usher himself.
According to Da Brat, Usher was unequivocal about how the situation should be characterized. “Well, I spoke to Usher and he said, ‘This is an exaggeration of conversation,'” she explained, BOSSIP reports. “He’s been nothing but supportive of plenty of issues that Justin Bieber has had throughout the years and y’all can actively check the records for all that.”
Da Brat acknowledged that the two did share a conversation at the event, but drew a firm line between that and the explosive narrative that had taken hold online. In her telling, someone caught wind of a private exchange and ran with a version of events that bore little resemblance to reality.

“They had a conversation and somebody heard the conversation with the two of them,” she said. “People are just taking it and twisting it and turning it around. But I’m letting you know that everything is OK between them and there’s no hostility.”
Through Da Brat, Usher communicated that he harbors no anger toward his former protege. He relayed that “Justin is on his own journey, dealing with his own reality he’s created,” signaling a measured and detached perspective rather than one rooted in conflict.
Da Brat left no room for ambiguity when summing up where things stand between them. “Usher wishes him nothing but the best and they have no hostility towards each other. They definitely love each other so people just take things out of context when they see something and they run with it.”
