*Joey Bada$$ is bringing “Unique” back to the Power universe in a way fans have never seen before. Season four of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is set to push every character to their limits, but perhaps none more so than Unique, who is now fueled by vengeance, paranoia, and betrayal.
In an exclusive interview with EUR, Joey Bada$$ gave insight into Unique’s fractured mindset, his thirst for power, and how his return shakes up the entire Thomas family.
“This season is a lot of vengeance, and it’s a lot of unpredictability,” Joey shared. “He’s suffering from some brain injury, some type of brain damage, and it’s definitely taken a toll on his ability to think clearly and to put things into perspective. His emotions and memories are scrambled, and he’s spiraling. He’s crashing out.”
Last season ended with a shocking turn of events that left Unique vulnerable. But instead of a calculated comeback, Joey teases that Unique’s injuries have altered his ability to strategize, making him even more dangerous.

Unique has always been one of the most stylish characters in the Power universe, but in season four, his signature looks take a backseat to his new reality. “Right now, it is fully about blood,” Joey explained. “He doesn’t even have the capacity to think straight, let alone put an outfit together. It’s the last thing that he’s thinking about. His focus is on revenge and getting back to a certain level of success.”
For Unique, success still means ruling the streets and controlling his empire. “Owning the blocks, the corners, being in charge—having those fits on, that jewelry, that car,” Joey said. “That’s what success looks like for him.”
Unique and Raq (Patina Miller) have had one of the most complex relationships in Raising Kanan, shifting between enemies, allies, and uneasy partners. But after everything that has happened, does Unique still have love for Raq?
“I absolutely do think so, and I think that’s where a lot of his hurt comes from,” Joey admitted. “He’s somewhat convinced himself that she used him and played him just to get him out of the way. And I think that deeply hurts him—that idea that she betrayed him. That has him wanting to crash and burn it all.”
It’s this sense of betrayal that makes Unique more unpredictable than ever. He’s not just looking to reclaim his position—he’s looking to destroy anyone he believes wronged him.
Unique is in a lonely position in a world where loyalty is rare. When asked if there’s anyone he still trusts, Joey revealed that the only person in his corner is “Early (Newcomer to the cast, Chris Redd), who is taking care of him and allowing him to be a ghost.”
That isolation only adds fuel to the fire. With his paranoia and thirst for revenge growing, Unique will be an even bigger threat to Raq and Kanan in season four.Despite being weakened physically, Unique still has the one thing that can keep him in the game: a motive.
“There’s no telling him what he believes isn’t true,” Joey said. “That motive is that he was betrayed. He thinks everyone conspired against him, and that’s going to fuel all of his actions.”
In “Raising Kanan” season four, it’s clear that Unique’s return is set to be one of the biggest shake-ups in the series. Whether his obsession with revenge leads him back to the top or to his downfall remains to be seen.
