Trump Shares AI Video of Obama Arrest That Sparks Outrage
*On July 20, former President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video on Truth Social that quickly caused backlash.
The video begins with real footage of Barack Obama speaking at a rally for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
As Obama says, “No one– especially the president– is above the law,” the Village People’s hit song “Y.M.C.A.” starts playing in the background.
What follows is a bizarre, artificial scene showing Trump and Obama inside the White House. Suddenly, FBI agents storm in and “arrest” Obama. The fake video ends with Obama in a jail cell, clearly meant as a political jab.

Village People Respond to Trump Using “Y.M.C.A.” Again
Despite Trump frequently using “Y.M.C.A.” at rallies, the Village People have mostly stayed quiet. But after the release of this video, they decided to speak up. In a statement to PEOPLE, the band explained that while sharing the video doesn’t violate copyright, they don’t support it.
“While we don’t want Y.M.C.A. to be used for political endorsements of any kind, President Trump merely sharing a video containing our song does not meet the standard for copyright infringement,” the group began in a statement to PEOPLE.
“However, we will attempt to find the original person or entity who posted the offensive video featuring President Barack Obama, and have such video taken down as not being endorsed by Village People, nor any of the owners of the copyright,” they continued.
Obama’s Team Calls the Video and Allegations “Ridiculous”
Former President Obama’s spokesperson quickly responded to the latest wave of claims from Trump. Trump suggested Obama manipulated intelligence reports during the 2016 election and committed treason. Obama’s team called it a distraction from Trump’s own legal issues.
“These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,” Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesperson for Obama, said in a statement sent to NewsNation.

“Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio,” he added.
Tulsi Gabbard’s Report Fuels Trump’s New Claims
Tulsi Gabbard, now serving as Director of National Intelligence, recently issued a report alleging election fraud and a “treasonous conspiracy.” Gabbard claimed that her office submitted evidence to the Justice Department for criminal investigation, with Trump’s backing.
Trump named several former Obama-era officials as potential suspects, including Joe Biden, James Comey, James Clapper, and John Brennan. He accused them of helping influence the 2016 election unfairly.
Trump Refers to Obama as “Guilty” and Calls for Charges
In a press statement, Trump directly accused Obama of treason. He also hinted that Biden and several intelligence leaders could be charged. Trump has long insisted that he was unfairly targeted in the Russia probe during his 2016 campaign.
“He’s guilty, it’s not a question,” Trump told reporters referring to Obama. “This was treason, this was every word you can think of.”
These claims come shortly after Trump ordered the declassification of files from the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation, which explored Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Clinton Campaign and DNC Fined Over 2016 Probe Spending
The DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign were fined for not properly reporting the money used in the Russia investigation. Their law firm hired Fusion GPS, which in turn brought on former British spy Christopher Steele. This work produced the now-infamous Steele dossier.
The FEC fined the DNC $105,000 and the Clinton campaign $8,000 for these reporting errors. That investigation played a major role in early Trump-Russia headlines during his first term.
Internet Blasts Trump Over “Childish” and “Racist” AI Video
Social media users did not hold back after watching the AI-generated video. Many called the fake Obama arrest offensive and dangerous. Others said it was another example of Trump trying to shift focus away from his convictions.
“The most racist sh*t ive ever seen,” said @GoddLevel.

“Impeaching this dude after midterms would hit sweet if we manage to make it happen, it would be so funny,” wrote @EraTelltale.
“Childish and moronic act from someone in a high office,” added @ChillGamerMac.
What Makes This Trump Obama AI Video So Alarming
Experts say the Trump Obama AI video is troubling because it mixes real clips with fake ones. It creates a false narrative meant to mislead viewers. With AI tools improving, fake videos like this can blur the line between truth and fiction.
This isn’t just a political stunt — it’s part of a larger trend of AI misuse. Lawmakers and tech experts warn that deepfakes could become more common and more dangerous during elections.
Trump and Obama Remain at Center of 2024 Election Drama
As Trump runs for office again, his focus on Obama and Biden hasn’t faded. The fake video and new accusations are part of a broader strategy to energize his base. Meanwhile, Democrats are rallying behind Biden as he prepares for a tough reelection fight.
This video drama highlights how politics, AI, and social media now collide in unpredictable and risky ways. As the 2024 election nears, both parties are bracing for more digital chaos.
