*A chilling new trailer for “The Black Phone 2” has arrived, promising a terrifying continuation of the Blumhouse horror saga.
Set four years after the original, the film follows Finney Blake (Mason Thames) and his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) as they confront the sinister Grabber (Ethan Hawke), who now wields supernatural powers reminiscent of Freddy Krueger.

Scheduled for release on October 17, 2025, just in time for Halloween, the Universal Pictures film dives deeper into horror with a bloodier, more graphic tone. Director Scott Derrickson crafts a high school coming-of-age horror story based on Joe Hill’s short story. The trailer hints at a mysterious connection between the siblings and the Grabber, sparked by Gwen’s visions of three boys hunted at a remote winter camp called Alpine Lake.
Derrickson, in a Collider interview, described the sequel’s shift in tone: “I think the first Black Phone is more of a supernatural thriller than it is a horror film. I’ve always thought that.”
He added, “It’s classified as a horror film because of some of the extremities it gets into. But when you make a high school horror film of any kind, there’s a certain expectation for it to satisfy an audience’s desire for some elevated, escalated horror. So, this film is more graphic. It’s more violent. It’s bloodier. There’s a severity and extremity to it that goes beyond the first movie.”
Produced by Derrickson, Cargill, and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Adam Hendricks, Daniel Bekerman, and Jason Blumenfeld, “The Black Phone 2” promises a visceral horror experience.
The film’s October release positions it as a must-see for horror fans craving a scare this Halloween season. Watch the trailer above.
