*A video of a teenager dressed as The Notorious B.I.G. for Halloween has gone viral, surpassing 8 million views on social media.
As Complex reports, the clip shows the kid rocking Timberland boots and a denim outfit reminiscent of Biggie’s style, topped off with a tilted crown.
The visual evokes the famous “KONY (King of New York)” photoshoot, captured by Barron Claiborne. This iconic portrait appeared on the cover of Rap Pages magazine in 1997 and remains one of the most recognizable images of the late hip-hop star. Back in 2020, Claiborne told the New York Post, “This crown is a novelty item; I bought it at a place on Broadway called Gordon’s. Without Biggie, the crown would not be worth [six figures]. I only paid six bucks for it.”

Biggie signed the crown days before he died in 1997. It was auctioned by Sotheby’s during its first Hip Hop auction in 2020, initially estimated at $200,000 to $300,000 but ultimately fetching $594,750.
Claiborne reflected on the image’s significance to CNN: “With the tragic events that unfolded just days after the photoshoot, this image of a crowned Notorious B.I.G. became much more than a portrait – the image transformed Biggie Smalls into an aristocratic or saint like figure, forever immortalized as not only the King of New York, but a king of hip hop music and one of the greatest artists of all time.”
