*A single social media post has reignited fan chatter in contemporary R&B. Hot 97 reports that an X user suggested that SZA, H.E.R., and Ella Mai form a group called S.H.E., an acronym fans found perfectly fitting. H.E.R. responded with a short “Thank you” and a prayer hands emoji.
Some pointed out that S.H.E. is already a popular Taiwanese pop group, and many noted that calls for a collaboration among these three singers have existed since at least 2017. For now, S.H.E. exists only in fan imagination, but the enthusiasm demonstrates a broader interest in collaborative projects.
Meanwhile, Chaka Khan recently shared her thoughts on the next generation of musicians in an interview with REVOLT. When asked which contemporary R&B artist she would trust to cover her songs, Khan named H.E.R. “She’s phenomenal,” she said. “She’s the closest thing to Prince.”

On the evolution of the music industry for Black women, Khan emphasized authenticity over competition. “I don’t think this is a contest,” she said.
“Art and expression are much deeper than that. Forget what they doing, what she doing, how they doing it. This is how I rock. This is how I get mine. So that’s what it should be about,” the music icon added.
Chaka Khan encouraged younger artists to celebrate each other’s talents, saying, “When you see somebody else and you recognize their good mind, you say, ‘Oh, she got it.’ It keeps life more interesting than competing with somebody.”
