*Sheryl Underwood is joining “The View” as a guest host while Alyssa Farah Griffin is away on maternity leave. The comedian and television personality joined the panel this week alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro and Sarah Haines, Entertainment Now reports.
Underwood is the fifth guest host to fill Griffin’s spot since the co-host welcomed a baby boy in February. Her appearance follows a rotation that has included Savannah Chrisley, Amanda Carpenter, Sara Eisen and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
The longtime TV personality quickly made her presence known during her first episode on Monday. Early in the discussion, Navarro joked about the timing of Underwood’s arrival. “If you had come a week earlier, you may have been DHS Secretary,” Navarro said. Underwood replied, “And I would accept.”
The exchange set the tone for Underwood’s approach during the week, as she joins the panel’s ongoing discussions covering politics, pop culture and everyday topics. Viewers also reacted online to her debut, with many praising her sharp humor and candid commentary.
Underwood brings significant daytime television experience to the role. She previously spent more than a decade on CBS’s “The Talk,” joining the show when it launched in 2011 and remaining part of the panel until 2024. Her 13-year run made her the longest-serving co-host in the program’s history.
“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT on ABC. Griffin’s return date has not yet been announced, leaving the possibility that the guest host rotation could continue in the coming weeks.
