*Sherri Shepherd expected another season and did not prepare a backup plan before Debmar-Mercury ended the show.
During a June 2026 social media live session shared by The Neighborhood Talk, Shepherd said she expected the show to return for a fifth season.
“I didn’t really get to make plans because I thought it was coming back,” she said, per SandraRose.com.
Shepherd reflected on the uncertainty surrounding her career shift and leaned on her faith while processing the change.
“It’s all good when it’s all good, but how do you respond when it’s not all good?” she said. “My faith says there is something else down the pipeline.”
Industry sources have pointed to behind-the-scenes tensions surrounding the show’s cancellation. Some insiders claim production company Debmar-Mercury did not fully support the program throughout its run.
The “Sherri” show premiered in September 2022 and took over the time slot previously held by “The Wendy Williams Show.” It wrapped production after four seasons despite recent high-profile guest appearances. Debmar-Mercury executives said the decision reflects broader changes in the daytime television landscape.
Insiders said the cancellation surprised members of the production team, especially given the show’s recent momentum. They pointed to strong guest bookings and positive audience reactions leading up to the announcement.
“Right now, it just happened so suddenly,” Shepherd said during the live chat. “I was really blindsided by the cancellation, so I didn’t get to make plans because I thought I was coming back, but it’s all good.”
The comedian is now considering new directions, including a possible podcast version of the show.
