*Industry insiders claim Debmar-Mercury never fully backed Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show, leaving staff shocked after the fourth season cancellation announcement despite recent high-profile bookings.
According to Page Six, behind-the-scenes, sources are pointing fingers at the production company following the cancellation of “Sherri,” Shepherd’s daytime talk show that launched in September 2022. The series took over the time slot previously occupied by “The Wendy Williams Show” after Wendy Williams stepped away due to health complications.
Although the program will cease production after its fourth season, syndicated episodes will continue airing through 2026. However, industry voices suggest the show’s fate was sealed by inadequate backing from its producers.

“They never supported her [fully],” one source alleged to Page Six. Another insider claimed that the production company “never fully saw it” for Shepherd, indicating a fundamental disconnect between the host and her corporate partners.
Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus addressed the decision in a statement, saying, “This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd.” The executives added, “We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”
The announcement blindsided production team members, especially given the show’s recent momentum with major celebrity appearances including Michelle Obama. “Every guest left happy,” one source said.
Shepherd revealed on Instagram Tuesday, February 3, that she contracted COVID-19, which affected her recent on-air performance. “Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv,” she wrote.
She promised to address the situation fully upon recovery, stating, “As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out.” Shepherd concluded, “Until then, I am truly grateful that SHERRI has made such an impact on you! See ya soon❤️ #sherrishepherd #sherrishowtv #grateful #itsnotover.”
