*Shalon Jackson, the eldest son of actress and comedian Mo’Nique, has publicly apologized for a heated 2024 dispute that strained their relationship.
The 35-year-old’s apology follows a series of videos he posted last year, which he now calls a “betrayal to our family” that unfairly targeted Mo’Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks.
“I’m gonna start this off by showing my gratitude towards my family. The amount of patience and grace that they have all showed me, especially during times where I did not deserve it. It is appreciated more than I can ever express in words,” Jackson said, Vibe reports.
The feud began after Mo’Nique’s Club Shay Shay interview, where Jackson accused her of spreading a “false narrative” about her parenting, stating, “She doesn’t care to be my mother any more than I care to be her son.” He later admitted the videos, fueled by his “mental health condition,” were misguided.
“I just simply didn’t like it,” he said, adding, “I was wrong and I shouldn’t have said any of what I said. I shoulda just kept my mouth shut and called my mother.”

Jackson credited his younger siblings for facilitating a reconciliatory family sit-down, which he described as humbling and healing.
“Having that family discussion was hard and it felt like I spiritually got jumped, but at the end of the a** whooping, my family did pick me up and give me a hug,” he shared.
He also praised Mo’Nique’s devotion, noting, “The love my mother has for her family and the way she loves life is a testament to her husband.”

Mo’Nique, who previously admitted on David Banner’s podcast to prioritizing fame over motherhood during Jackson’s childhood, celebrated the reconciliation with family photos captioned, “GRATEFUL!!!! I LOVE US 4REAL!!!”
