*The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that social media personality Rolling Ray passed away due to natural causes in September, as reported by TMZ.
Previously, we noted that the 28-year-old, whose real name was Raymond Harper, died just before reaching his 29th birthday after struggling with a blood infection and pneumonia. PEOPLE reported that authorities confirmed his death was due to natural causes linked to persistent health issues.
Harper had faced declining health for over a year before his passing. Diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy in early childhood, Harper used a wheelchair throughout much of his life. Despite these challenges, he cultivated a dynamic career, captivating audiences with his genuine humor and charm on social media platforms and through appearances on Zeus Network shows.

His death was first made public by his mother, Sazola Nay, who posted an emotional message on Facebook on September 3. The Zeus Network, home to “Bobby I Love You, Purrr,” where Ray appeared, also shared a tribute to celebrate his life and legacy.
Ray’s cousin, Coolest Kishia, mourned his passing on Facebook, writing: “I f—— hate it here why cuz… my favorite… how can I heal from this pain.”
Rolling Ray rose to fame after appearing on MTV’s “Catfish: Trolls” in 2018 and “Divorce Court” the following year. His bold personality earned him a devoted following of more than 445,000 on Instagram and nearly 8,000 on TikTok.
Beyond entertainment, Ray used his platform to advocate for the Black, LGBTQ+, and disabled communities. Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 3, he became a prominent figure for disability representation and was active in the Black Lives Matter movement.
Throughout his life, Ray faced several health crises, including severe burns from a 2021 wig fire, a COVID-19–related coma in 2022, and a 2024 hospitalization for pneumonia and blood infection. His resilience and humor made him a symbol of strength to many.
