*Patti La Belle recently took a moment to clarify her heartfelt connection with the late Aretha Franklin, addressing long-standing rumors of discord between the two music legends.
During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on Sunday, host Andy Cohen prompted La Belle to share insights into their relationship. “We just talked about life,” La Belle told Cohen, per The Huffington Post. “A lot of people think that we didn’t get along, but we did.”
The conversation revealed the duo’s shared passions, particularly their love for food, given La Belle’s renowned culinary enthusiasm. They also connected over their mutual admiration for each other’s vocal talents, with Franklin even expressing interest in a potential collaboration that never materialized due to her passing in 2018 at age 76.

Chaka Khan, appearing alongside La Belle and Stephanie Mills to promote their The Queens tour, added that Franklin was known for her “poker face,” offering context to her reserved demeanor.
Following Franklin’s death, La Belle publicly shared her grief, stating she was “deeply saddened” by the loss of the Queen of Soul.
