*Democrat Mayor Eric Adams expressed gratitude for former President Donald Trump’s support following Adams’ recent criminal indictment.
“I welcome support from every American, no matter where they are and who they are,” said Adams, who was convicted of state crimes in Manhattan this spring and is facing multiple pending indictments on both state and federal levels.
He added, “Those who know me and know how I am and those who are just reading up on this … every American in this great country, I welcome support from.”
As we reported earlier via CNN, Adams has been indicted on five federal charges related to bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals, according to the 57-page indictment. The indictment alleges illegal actions stretching back to 2014, from when he was Brooklyn Borough President.
“For nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,” the indictment reads.

Specifically, he received luxury travel and other benefits from a Turkish official and later pressured the NYC Fire Department to open a Turkish consular building without a fire inspection in exchange, the indictment says.
Trump reacted to Adams’ indictment during a press conference in NYC last week.
“I watched about a year ago when he talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city, and the federal government should pay us, and we shouldn’t have to take them. And I said: You know what? He’ll be indicted within a year. And I was exactly right,” Trump said. “Because that’s what we have — we have people that use the Justice Department and the FBI at levels that have never been seen before.”
Adams issued a statement last week stating that he “always knew that if I stood my ground” in speaking out about the city’s migrant crisis “that I would be a target, and a target I became.”
