*The ex-girlfriend of Nipsey Hussle is officially back in their daughter’s life.
According to The Blast, years of conflict between Tanisha Foster and the late rapper’s family over custody of the daughter she shared with Hussle, Emani Ashgedom, has come to an end.
The resolution stemmed from a major legal win Foster gained that found her with joint physical and legal custody of Emani. On March 5, a joint stipulation was signed by Foster Hussle brother, Sam Ashgedom; his sister, Samantha Ashgedom and his mother, Angelique Smith, the site reports (per In Touch).
Under the new deal, Sam, the family’s sole guardian, will share custody with Foster, with Emani spending 60 percent of her time with her mother and the remainder with her uncle. The court’s ruling disclosed that Tanisha and Sam will both have equal rights to make decisions that serve Emani’s best interests. Foster will retain her parental rights regarding Emani, who will reside with both parties at their current residences.
In addition, the agreement specifies that Emani is to remain involved in all ongoing “academic and extracurricular activities” while under Tanisha and Sam’s care.

News of the joint custody marks a shift in the more than a year-long custody battle after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied Foster’s request to depose Sam., citing a lack of sufficient evidence to support her request.
Foster’s legal drama with Hussle’s family goes back to the rhymesayer’s death on March 31, 2019. Prior to Sam, Hussle’s mother and sister were assigned as Emani’s co-guardians, The appointment was at the center of attempts Foster made to overturn it when she challenged the court. Despite a trial date set for Feb. 25, it is a moot point now, with the trial cancelled and Emani back with Foster.
As chronicled by The Blast, the joint custody is a far cry from the days when Foster filed a petition in 2022 to terminate Emani’s guardianship. After Hussle’s passing, the matriarch considered guardianship the best option, thinking it was in Emani’s best interest. Add in financial difficulties and a strong desire to provide Emani with the stable environment she once had, and the reasons were laid out for the Hussle family’s guardianship
However, in her petition, Foster switched her position, alleged the Hussle family used their wealth and influence to limit her visitation rights and financial support, hindering her ability to be actively involved in Emani’s life. Referencing Emani’s questions about when they can live together. Foster urged the court to end the guardianship, highlight no circumstances in her life that should prevent her from being with her daughter.
On the other side, Samantha and Sam countered Foster’s claims and petition with legal moves made to secure guardianship after voicing concerns about Foster’s parenting ability. Foster’s application emphasized her dedication to Emani’s well-being as well as the importance of keeping her connected to her father’s family.
Although Foster fought hard, the Hussle family prevailed in court when a judge appointed Samantha and her mother as Emani’s legal guardians under the assurance of a stable and supportive home for Emani.
