*Nick Cannon is not shy about the rules being different under his roof depending on which twin you are.
The 45-year-old television host sat down on “The TMZ Podcast” and made it plain that when it comes to dating, his 15-year-old son Moroccan and daughter Monroe are not operating under the same set of expectations.
“My son [Moroccan] has been dating, and I’ve allowed it, I encouraged it,” Cannon said, PEOPLE reports. When the podcast host pressed him on whether he extended the same freedom to Monroe, his answer was immediate. “No, absolutely not.”

Cannon did not attempt to dress up his position. “First of all, it’s absolutely a double standard… And I know I get in trouble a lot ’cause I say things with my chest. But there is a difference when parenting a son and then when parenting a daughter,” he explained.
His reasoning came down to protection. “I am more protective of my daughter because there [are] things out there that I have to protect my daughter from,” he said. “Like, as we know, there are a certain type of individuals that you want to keep your daughter away from.”
The consequences, in his mind, are not equal either. If Monroe were ever harmed, Cannon made clear the outcome would be severe. “If somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I’m going to jail,” he said. “If some man puts his hands on my daughter, it’s my worst nightmare because I am going to jail forever.”
That said, Cannon did leave a door open. He told Monroe that if she can walk him through the details of a planned date, she can go — with one condition. “Your twin brother can go with you,” he said. “But you ain’t going one-on-one with no little bastard anywhere.”
Looking ahead, Cannon acknowledged the clock is ticking on how much say he actually has. He said he is currently “preparing Monroe for college” and admitted, “I can’t do nothing about it.” Still, he expressed hope that the open communication he has built with his daughter will carry her through. “My daughter tells me any and everything,” he said.
The twins, who Cannon shares with Mariah Carey, celebrated their 15th birthday on May 1.
