*A beloved franchise from the 1980s is making its way back to the big screen – and this time, it is coming with serious firepower.
Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios have released the final trailer for “Masters of the Universe,” a live-action sci-fi action adventure hitting U.S. theaters exclusively on June 5, 2026. Sony Pictures International Releasing will handle the film’s international distribution the same month.
Based on Mattel’s iconic toy line that spawned cartoons, comics, and films across decades, the project is built around a story of heroic transformation – a universal theme centered on discovering the power within oneself. The filmmakers are promising heart-pounding action alongside epic visual effects designed to bring the world of Eternia to life on a grand scale.

Director Travis Knight helms the project, working from a screenplay by Chris Butler and the writing team of Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham. The story was developed by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, Alex Litvak, and Michael Finch.
Nicholas Galitzine leads the cast as He-Man, joined by Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley. Kristen Wiig lends her voice to the character Roboto, while Jared Leto portrays Skeletor and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms.
The film is produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, and DeVon Franklin, with Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman, and David Bloomfield serving as executive producers.
With He-Man already embedded in the cultural memory of multiple generations, “Masters of the Universe” arrives with a built-in audience and and the kind of major studio backing that signals a franchise being built for the long haul, not a quick nostalgia grab. Watch the final trailer below.
