*Fat Joe’s legal battle with Tyrone Blackburn has intensified amid accusations that the attorney submitted fabricated case law and falsely blamed an AI research tool for the mistakes.
Blackburn, who is pursuing a $20 million civil suit on behalf of Terrance “T.A.” Dixon, previously claimed a LexisNexis AI function played a role in producing non-existent cases referenced in an opening brief, TMZ reports. Fat Joe’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, pushed back, accusing Blackburn of a pattern of misconduct. Tacopina told TMZ, “Tyrone Blackburn is truly astonishing — just when I thought his web of lies couldn’t sink to new lows, he manages to outdo himself yet again.” He added, “Time after time, he’s been scolded by judges for fabricating cases or fined for falsifying legal matters, so it’s undoubtedly clear that he’s a pathological liar.”
Tacopina concluded, “It’s only a matter of time before he’s disbarred for making a complete mockery of the legal profession.”

According to TMZ, LexisNexis’ head of legal issued a letter stating Blackburn was not authorized to use the company’s products and that the company bore no responsibility for any errors in his filings. Blackburn responded by telling the outlet, “Currently, I do not have a LexisNexis account. But when I researched that brief, I used LexisNexis.”
He also said he intends to “publish all of my research on the docket, as well as my invoice from LexisNexis that shows them trying to collect from me, which I have refused to pay.”
Blackburn has accused Fat Joe and Tacopina of coordinating efforts to damage his reputation and influence the ongoing case. In a filing, he said the actions surrounding the dispute placed him in “severe medical distress” and caused continuing professional and personal harm.
The underlying lawsuit, filed in June 2025, includes allegations from Dixon accusing the rapper of years of unpaid labor and coercive conduct. Fat Joe has rejected the claims as “disgusting lies,” while his legal team has filed a countersuit accusing Dixon and Blackburn of defamation, extortion, and emotional distress.
