*Keke Palmer recently shared her belief that she could have triumphed on the iconic singing competition “American Idol.”
During a conversation on the September 15 episode of Sean Evans’ YouTube series “Hot Ones,” the multi-talented star was asked, “Which reality show do you think you’d have the best shot of winning?” As TV Insider reports, Palmer responded with unwavering confidence: “I know for a fact, if it was at the right time, the right era, your girl would’ve been an American Idol.” She later reaffirmed her conviction, stating, “I feel like I would’ve been an American Idol.”
Palmer continued, “I would’ve been up there with my girl Fantasia. Not her season though, ’cause she would’ve beaten me. But I would’ve been up in there, I know I could’ve made it at some point. American Idol,” she said.
She further explained, “‘I’m from Chicago. My mom was a singer growing up, I grew up in church.’… You had to have that back in the day. You needed that storyline. I would’ve ate the damn America up.” Palmer’s Chicago roots and church background, she believed, would have resonated with audiences.
Meanwhile, Palmer shines in Lionsgate’s upcoming comedy “Good Fortune,” written and directed by Aziz Ansari, set for a nationwide theatrical release on October 17, alongside a star-studded cast including Seth Rogen, Keanu Reeves, and Sandra Oh.
The film stars Reeves as Gabriel, a well-intentioned but clumsy guardian angel, alongside Ansari as Arj, a struggling gig worker, and Rogen as a wealthy venture capitalist. The story follows Gabriel’s humorous attempts to transform the lives of these two contrasting characters through divine intervention.
In the trailer, Gabriel describes himself as a “budget guardian angel” who prevents minor mishaps, like texting while driving. Tasked with a larger mission, he aims to change the lives of Arj and Rogen’s character, guided by fellow angel Martha, who advises, “To save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.”
“Good Fortune” promises a fresh comedic perspective backed by a stellar cast. Watch the trailer below.
