*During the final night of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” Tour at Stade de France in Paris, a surprise guest appearance by Jay-Z reportedly sparked fury from Kanye West.
As Reality Tea reports, the appearance marked Jay-Z’s first time performing live alongside Beyoncé in seven years, and fans were treated to hits like “Crazy in Love,” “Drunk in Love,” and a remix of “Partition.” But one moment stood out for more than just the music.
As Jay-Z launched into his verse from “N—– in Paris”—a track from his collaborative album Watch the Throne with Ye—he made a notable alteration. Instead of the original line, “Just might let you meet Ye,” the rapper switched the lyric to “Just might let you meet Bey,” inserting his wife’s name in place of West’s.
That change didn’t go unnoticed. According to an exclusive report by Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, the tweak hit a nerve. “He’s [West] fuming. And we know Ye doesn’t stay quiet for long,” a source told the outlet. Videos of the performance quickly spread online, and insiders suggest West is gearing up to respond publicly.
Jay-Z’s move is believed to be a subtle clapback following West’s inflammatory social media posts earlier this year. Back in March, the Yeezy founder went on a tirade via X (formerly Twitter), launching attacks not only on Jay-Z and Beyoncé, but also on his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. Among his most disturbing claims were offensive remarks about the Carters’ children.

In one post, West wrote: “WAIT, HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS? THEYRE RETARDED,” later adding, “AT LEAST JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ GET TO RAISE THEIR RETARDED ASS KIDS,” referencing his grievances over custody with Kardashian. He also accused the Kardashians of sex trafficking and claimed that Jay-Z might attempt to harm him.
Despite deleting the offensive tweets and issuing a public apology, the damage had already been done. The source told #ShuterScoop that the Carters “considered suing” West in the wake of the posts. Ultimately, Jay-Z chose the stage as his platform for response.
