The first official trailer for “Magazine Dreams” featuring Jonathan Majors’ acclaimed performance has finally been released.
We reported earlier that Briarcliff Entertainment acquired the U.S. rights to Elijah Bynum’s film that originally premiered at Sundance in 2023 and was first picked up by Searchlight Pictures. However, after Majors’ conviction on assault and harassment charges related to his relationship with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbarii, the studio pulled it from its release schedule and put it back on the market.
Majors received glowing praise for his “powerhouse” performance as Killian Maddox, a troubled man who dreams of bodybuilding superstardom. Here is the Sundance Film Festival synopsis of the film: “Killian Maddox lives with his ailing veteran grandfather, obsessively working out between court-mandated therapy appointments and part-time shifts at a grocery store where he harbors a crush on a friendly cashier.”
The description continues, “Though Killian’s struggles to read social cues and maintain control of his volatile temper amplify his sense of disconnection amid a hostile world, nothing deters him from his fiercely protected dream of bodybuilding superstardom, not even the doctors who warn that he’s causing permanent damage to his body with his quest.”

“Dozens of incredibly talented people poured their time, energy, and creativity into bringing this film to life, and I am immensely proud of their work,” Bynum said, per Deadline. “I’m grateful to Tom Ortenberg and Briarcliff Entertainment for their unwavering support, passion, and for giving this film the opportunity to reach a wider audience.”
Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg said, “Magazine Dreams is a visceral experience that challenges the perceptions of ambition and identity. Elijah’s film made a well-deserved splash in Sundance and Briarcliff is looking forward to taking his story to the big screen across the country in early 2025.”
Ortenberg continued: “Jonathan Majors’ transcendent performance as Killian Maddox will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most compelling and transformative roles in recent cinema history. We are honored to bring this extraordinary work to theaters nationwide, inviting audiences to witness a story that will resonate long after the credits roll.”
The indie drama, which also features Taylour Paige, Elijah Bynum, and Haley Bennett, is set for a theatrical release on March 25, 2025.
