*Peanut butter lovers, take note — Jif is about to make your snack routine a lot more interesting.
What started as a creamy fan favorite is getting a satisfying makeover. Jif’s Peanut Butter & Chocolate Spread, which debuted in 2024, is now being reimagined with a crunchy twist — roasted peanut chunks folded throughout for a texture upgrade that the brand is calling a first for its lineup, AllRecipes reports.
Nicole Massey, Vice President of Marketing at the J.M. Smucker Co., spoke to the appeal of the original spread when it launched, describing it as a product built around balance. “Jif Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavored Spread combines the irresistible deliciousness of Jif Peanut Butter that our fans love with the sweet flavor of chocolate, striking the perfect balance of salty and sweet,” she said. “It’s lower in sugar, making it a permissible indulgence that can transform a simple snack into a mouthwatering treat in no time at all.”
For health-conscious snackers, the sugar comparison with competing products is worth noting. Jif’s new spread contains just 8g of total sugars per two-tablespoon serving, a significant difference from Nutella’s 21g for that same serving size. That works out to roughly half the sugar found in both Nutella hazelnut spread and Nutella Peanut.
Per JIF.com, “This sweet and salty flavor fusion contains 50% less sugar than the leading hazelnut spread with cocoa.” The spread is as versatile as it is tasty — dip your pretzels, fruit, or crackers into it, blend it into oatmeal or smoothies, layer it over pancakes, toast, or waffles, or use it as a rich frosting on cupcakes and brownies.
The official retail rollout is scheduled for May 2026 at major stores nationwide.
