*Gold’s Gym is facing criticism after a Los Angeles woman said her membership was terminated when she complained about a man inside the women’s locker room. The incident reportedly occurred at the company’s Hollywood, California location and involved singer-songwriter Tish Hyman, known on social media as @listen2tish.
According to Hyman, the confrontation began after she encountered the individual while undressed. She wrote on X, “Today he saw me walk into the women’s room followed me in and called me a bitch. I ran out into the locker room crying and screaming. This is why we can’t be quiet because people need to know what’s happening. Thank you to the men who helped me today.”
In a follow-up post, Hyman added, “#goldsgym terminated my membership after the MAN was escorted out by police. Then had me escorted out by officers afterwards. It was EMBARRASSING! I left but not before making sure everyone KNEW that they were allowing MEN in the locker room !!!!!”

Hyman later expanded on the incident in a video, calling the experience “the worst” she had ever had at a gym. “I just had the worst experience ever at the gym, at Gold’s Gym,” she said. “And I think this is probably happening at gyms across America. Where, like, trans women are going into the women’s locker room and not really caring about how women feel about it.”
She described feeling violated and unsupported by staff after confronting the individual. “Today I was naked in the locker room. I turned around and there’s a man there. In boy clothes, lip gloss, standing there looking at me. I’m butt naked,” she said. Hyman recounted that when she questioned him, “He goes, don’t f**king talk to me. I’m a woman. I have a right to be in here.”
She continued, “Immediately, I’m f**king pissed because I’m butt naked. I feel violated. I feel, like, weird. Like, I don’t wanna deal with this, right? So the girls are walking in and they’re seeing the commotion and they actually chime in and say, yo, I don’t know why he’s in here. He’s not supposed to be in here.”
Tish says another gym member air-dropped this video to her of the man pretending to be a woman who was in the Gold’s Gym women’s locker room.
This looks like the same guy who got Tish kicked out of the club.

Hyman said she reported the issue to gym employees but was told only that they could file an incident report. “What the f**k is going on?” she said in the video. “Like, listen, how can you say you’re a woman or you wanna be a woman and you don’t care how women feel? That’s nothing more manly than not giving a f**k about how women feel, I’d like to think.”
Identifying herself as a lesbian, Hyman said her objections were not based on bias. “I’m not transphobic and I’m not homophobic. I’m not straight-phobic. I’m not racist. None of these things,” she said. “I just believe in treating people how I wanna be treated.”
She also questioned existing policies that allow access to locker rooms based on gender identity. “Why do you guys think it’s okay for men to be in the women’s restroom? And like, when is the cutoff point?” she said. “Why aren’t women making the laws? And if you really wanna f**king be safe and feel good, why don’t we just make trans restrooms? Because it ain’t right.”
Hyman’s account has drawn widespread support online. Social media users have called on Gold’s Gym to apologize, with one writing, “@GoldsGym You got a bit of time to condemn this before we Budlight you. Give her a lifetime membership & an apology.” Another said, “We women who are tired of this sh*t stand with you. Thank you for being one of our voices.”

X user Link Lauren wrote, “God Bless this woman for speaking up. Women are sick and tired of being told they’re “transphobic” simply because they don’t want men violating their locker rooms and sports teams. We shouldn’t put the feelings of mentally ill men over millions of women who should feel safe going to the gym.”
According to X user Kelly Holmes, Hyman launched a Change.org petition urging all 50 states to pass legislation guaranteeing women-only spaces. “This isn’t about hate; it’s about protecting survivors of abuse from re-traumatization in places like locker rooms where vulnerability is the norm,” Holmes quoted her as saying. “We are born women… I’m not sitting down watching this shit take place.”
This person told me HE was a woman and demanded that I leave the women’s locker room.

Under California law, businesses must provide equal access to facilities regardless of gender identity or expression. Cal. Civ. Code § 51 states, “All persons within the jurisdiction of this state are free and equal… and no matter what their sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship, primary language, or immigration status are entitled to the full and equal accommodations.”
As of publication, Gold’s Gym has not publicly commented on the incident. The man at the center of the controversy has been identified as Grant Freeman, who uses the transgender name “Alexis” on Instagram (High Priestess Healing). Apparently, he has a criminal record.
