*Controversy erupted following a Fox News segment Tuesday in which host Greg Gutfeld made inflammatory remarks comparing the term “Nazi” to the racial slur historically used against Black Americans.
As SandraRose.com reports, during the discussion, Gutfeld and fellow host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery joked about taking back the word “Nazi” in the same way, claiming Black communities “removed the power” from the N-word through frequent use.
“This is why the criticism doesn’t matter to us when you call us Nazis. Nazi this and Nazi that,” Gutfeld said during the broadcast. He continued, “You know what? I’ve said this before, we need to learn from the Blacks. The way they were able to remove the power from the N-word by using it. So from now on it’s: What up, my Nazi? Hey, what up, my Nazi? Hey, what’s hanging, my Nazi?”
Kennedy added to the moment with, “Nazi, please,” prompting Gutfeld to respond, “Thank god you did a hard ‘i’ there.”
The segment drew immediate backlash online, with many accusing the hosts of trivializing both Nazism and the historical context of the N-word.
What @greggutfeld said on @TheFive , comparing what “the blaacKs” went through to Nazis responsible for the extermination of specifically six million Jews and 10’s of millions of lives all over the world, would have gotten you fired but on @FoxNews he wont even receive a call ??♂️ pic.twitter.com/NnTGEDNHum

Zack Linly of NewsOne.com condemned the segment as juvenile and offensive. “They’re not journalists over at Fox News; they are schoolyard bullies. And I mean, like, pre-school. Maybe kindergarten,” he wrote. Linly ended with a satirical jab: “Grow up, my Nazis!”
Conservative writer Cathy Young also responded, tweeting, “We’ve officially gotten to the point where fox news commentators are comfortable calling themselves Nazis.”
“These quotes, even if said in jest, would destroy the careers of any other journalist on any other mainstream national media platform,” wrote Mehdi Hasan, founder of Zeteo. “But Fox doesn’t employ journalists and doesn’t have any journalistic (or decency) standards.”
