*Authorities in Indiana have charged a father and daughter with felony offenses after allegedly marrying each other.
Bradley McCollum, 59, and Kimberly Tempel, 44, are accused of falsifying information on their marriage license, while Tempel also faces an additional charge for marrying while still legally wed, WLBT reports.
Investigators say the pair misrepresented key details on their application, including McCollum’s criminal history and their marital statuses. DNA evidence provided by McCollum’s sister reportedly confirms a high probability that he is Tempel’s biological father.
“The biggest issue was in regards to their actual relationship,” Public Information Officer Anthony Aussieker said, per WLBT via CafeMom.com. “They both answered the question saying that they were not closely related, that was later determined to be false. That was some of the issues that came up with the falsifying of the marriage application.”

Aussieker added, “For that roughly four or five day span, she was still legally married to her prior husband which would make it illegal to marry someone else.”
Court records indicate the two were estranged while McCollum served time for federal child pornography charges but reconnected through letters and emails. McCollum’s sister told police she believes the marriage was intended to secure Tempel access to his $350 monthly Veterans Affairs benefits while he remains incarcerated.
McCollum’s release date is set for July 29.
