*A group of 100 talented high school students from across the country had a magical start to their journey at Walt Disney World Resort, where they participated in an exciting parade alongside actor Tyler James Williams, known for his role on ABC’s hit show “Abbott Elementary.”
Williams, a Golden Globe-winning actor, serves as this year’s official “DREAMbassador” for the Disney Dreamers Academy. The parade featured beloved Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Princess Tiana, marking the beginning of an unforgettable experience, according to the news release.
The Disney Dreamers Academy, now celebrating its 18th year, is an annual initiative designed to empower young minds, helping them identify and pursue their dreams. Selected from thousands of applicants, the 100 students receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World, where they participate in a four-day mentoring program. The event, supported by sponsors such as Sprite and Delta Airlines, includes interactive career workshops, hands-on learning experiences, and inspiring sessions led by celebrities, business executives, educators, and entertainers.
One of the many immersive experiences this year included a trip to the Harambe Wildlife Reserve, where students observed over 30 animal species, including giraffes, crocodiles, and flamingos. The visit provided valuable insights into wildlife conservation and animal care, highlighting the real-world impact of environmental stewardship in both the entertainment industry and beyond.
Two students, Sydney Gilmore, 17, from Arlington, Texas, and Zane Stevenson, 14, from Manvel, Texas, were invited to visit the set of “Abbott Elementary” in Los Angeles later this year. The opportunity will allow them to witness the behind-the-scenes magic of television production and gain insight into the entertainment industry.
