*Officer Danny Torres, who was reassigned after a contentious traffic stop involving Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill, has faced multiple suspensions throughout his 27-year career.
According to TMZ, police records reveal that he has been suspended at least six times. We reported earlier that Hill was briefly detained by police after a traffic incident just hours before Miami’s season-opening game.
“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police,” the Dolphins X account said in the aftermath of the Hill’s controversial encounter with police.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN the incident began as a traffic stop when Hill was driving to the stadium.
“Apparently, he got a ticket for a moving violation entering the stadium,” Rosenhaus told ESPN. “How things escalated into the situation that they were in, in handcuffs and being held on the ground with police is mind-boggling to me.”

TMZ reprots that Torres has faced numerous complaints since joining in 1996, including six accusations of misconduct and at least 13 investigations into his use of force. Throughout his career, he has been disciplined multiple times, receiving written reprimands and several suspensions, including a 20-day ban in 2018. Despite this, Torres has also been commended over two dozen times, including a professionalism award in May 2023.
We reported via CNN that Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. Daniels said an investigation has begun into the incident with Hill.
Rosenhaus called for Torres and the other officers involved to be fired from their positions, Sporting News reports.
“For me, personally, I believe the police officers that did that to Tyreek shouldn’t be in that position — they should be let go,” Rosenhaus said during an appearance on “The Dan Le Batard Show.”
“Look at the guy who kicked him. That guy should be fired. That’s out of control. The guy that jumped in and put him in a chokehold? There’s no place for a police officer to have a badge that operates like that, when Tyreek wasn’t being aggressive, or violent or fighting back in any capacity.
“That was horrendous how they treated him. They didn’t treat him like a human being.”
