*Tommy Boy Music, owned by Reservoir, is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the 1995 chart-topping hit featuring R&B singer L.V.
The song, a defining moment in hip-hop, soared to number one in over 15 countries and earned a 1996 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Its 3x Platinum RIAA certification underscores its global impact. Blending Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise” with Coolio’s poignant lyrics, the track became a cultural milestone, addressing urban struggles and systemic issues.
Its resonance persists, with over 2 billion Spotify streams and 1.8 billion YouTube views for its “Dangerous Minds”-inspired video featuring Michelle Pfeiffer. The song remains a fixture on Billboard’s Global 200 charts.
To mark the milestone, Tommy Boy Music is launching a multifaceted campaign, including four Dolby Atmos tracks from Coolio’s Greatest Hits, such as “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “C U When U Get There,” available on Apple Music and other platforms. A 7” vinyl of the song and its instrumental will drop on September 5, with pre-orders now open.

A social media challenge with Beatsource/Beatport invites DJs and creators to remix the track using a branded hashtag. The grand prize includes a Rane One MKII DJ Controller, UE Pro 11 Earphones, a Coolio vinyl, and subscriptions to Beatsource Pro and DJcity.
