*Chris Brown unexpectedly deactivated his Instagram account on September 16, following a tense back-and-forth online about colorism.
The decision came after he shared a video of himself performing a steamy dance with media personality Kayla Nicole during the Los Angeles stop of his Breezy Bowl XX Tour. The routine, set to his 2007 hit “Take You Down,” sparked conversations about colorism after Nicole referenced representing “brown girls” in her remarks.
Kayla Nicole later hit up social media to share her thoughts on the performance, stating, “I did it for the smart girls, the cool girls, the sexy girls, the fun girls—for all of us who are all of those things at once. And I overly did it for my brown girls, tthhhhaankya.”

Her words appeared to resonate with fans but also sparked backlash, prompting Brown to address the controversy directly. In an Instagram Story, he wrote, “Miss me with that colorist rage baiting!!!”
Brown’s response was short-lived, as he quickly removed the message and deactivated his account entirely. In a final post before signing off, he expressed frustration, stating, “Ima take a break from social media. Yall done pissed me off long enough.”
