*Billy Porter has launched Black Mona Lisa Beauty, a gender-free makeup and skincare brand that embodies his vibrant persona.
The 55-year-old Emmy and Tony Award-winning star is simultaneously dazzling audiences as the Emcee in Broadway’s Cabaret while introducing this passion project. “My dream is to be a mogul,” Porter tells PEOPLE, explaining how the Black Mona Lisa name, originally tied to his recent albums, evolved into a broader brand reflecting his alter ego.
The gender-free brand offers products such as Liquid Shimmer, Kale Face Cleanser, and Rose Gold Oil, all priced under $70, to encourage accessibility.
“I remember reading ingredients — there was a product for face wash for women, and then a product for face wash that was supposed to be for men — and it’s the same ingredients,” he says, rejecting gendered marketing in favor of universal appeal.
Looking ahead, Porter plans to expand Black Mona Lisa Beauty with foundation shades for all skin tones. “As a Black man, I need all the colors,” he says.

His future ventures may include a clothing line, millinery, or even eyewear frames, as he declares, “Anything and everything is possible.”
For now, Porter is balancing his Broadway run, which ends October 19, with promoting his new single “Holy Shuffle” alongside Big Freedia, all while showcasing Black Mona Lisa Beauty’s transformative products.
“My last albums were called Black Mona Lisa and Black Mona Lisa Volume 2, and when that name sort of dropped down from the sky, I knew that it was bigger than a song and an album. Black Mona Lisa has become my alter ego, and I’m building out the brand. I sort of have just been dreaming, and scheming, and manifesting, and putting things out into the universe.”
