*When it comes to tipping, Beyoncé and Jay-Z apparently do not do anything small. After spending a week aboard the Flying Fox, one of the world’s most lavish superyachts, the power couple reportedly left the vessel’s 54-person crew a tip estimated at $630,000, according to Supercar Blondie.
The number reflects what a customary 20 percent gratuity looks like when the base charter fee runs $3.5 million for the week. While tips are typically handed directly to the captain in cash, a sum of that size from clients of that caliber likely made for a very different kind of transaction — one more likely handled through a wire transfer to a broker.
For a crew already working aboard one of the most extraordinary yachts on the water, the payout was likely a welcome bonus on top of an already memorable assignment.

The Flying Fox is hard to match in terms of sheer scale and luxury. Built by Lürssen, the 450-foot vessel carries a $400 million price tag and comes loaded with amenities that go far beyond the typical definition of extravagance. Guests have access to a two-story spa, a deck-wide pool, 11 private guest cabins each with their own balconies, a cryo-chamber, a jacuzzi, a beauty salon, and a movie theater.
The yacht became part of music history in 2021 when it served as the setting for Beyoncé’s 40th birthday celebration, cruising the Mediterranean while the singer marked the milestone in style.
Keeping a vessel of that scale operating at peak luxury requires a dedicated staff of 54, making the Flying Fox less of a yacht and more of a five-star resort on water.
