Uche Ojeh’s Life and Legacy as a Husband and Father
*Uche Ojeh, the beloved husband of “TODAY” show co-anchor Sheinelle Jones, passed away today (05-23-25) at the age of 45. He died after a brave fight with glioblastoma, a highly aggressive and rare form of brain cancer. Ojeh and Jones were married for nearly 18 years and shared three children: their son Kayin, born in 2009, and twins Clara and Uche Jr., born in 2012.
The couple met in the late 1990s while both were students at Northwestern University. Sheinelle, then a freshman, met Uche while he was visiting the campus as a high school senior. What began as a chance meeting turned into a lifelong partnership grounded in love, faith, and family.
Despite the spotlight on Sheinelle’s public career, Uche maintained a quiet strength behind the scenes, supporting her and raising their children while excelling professionally. His passing marks a profound personal loss not only to his family but also to the professional communities he influenced through his work in business and technology.
Ojeh’s Impressive Career in Tech and Business Consulting
Born on February 4, 1980, in Pennsylvania and of Nigerian descent, Uche Ojeh built a respected career as a business and technology consultant. He earned a degree in computer science with a concentration in economics from Northwestern University in 2001, a time when the tech industry was experiencing rapid transformation.

Ojeh began his career at IBM, where he spent four years as a consultant, gaining hands-on experience in information technology and systems integration. He then moved to Accenture in 2005, where he worked for three more years. At both firms, he advised Fortune 500 clients on digital transformation, technology implementation, and operational strategy.
In 2008, Ojeh took a major entrepreneurial step by co-founding UAO Consulting, a strategy and tech consultancy headquartered in Philadelphia. As managing partner, he led the company for 17 years, helping clients across industries navigate digital challenges and improve organizational performance. Under his leadership, UAO grew to include clients in both Philadelphia and New York, and he became known for his ability to merge business insights with innovative technology.
Understanding Glioblastoma, the Cancer That Took His Life
Uche Ojeh’s death was due to glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), this disease is fast-growing and affects glial cells, which support brain function. It’s a rare cancer, occurring in about 3 to 4 out of every 100,000 people annually.
Classified as a Grade IV tumor by the World Health Organization, glioblastoma is difficult to treat due to its rapid growth and tendency to infiltrate surrounding brain tissue. Symptoms can include persistent headaches, seizures, personality changes, memory loss, and cognitive decline. Unfortunately, even with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, the average life expectancy following diagnosis is typically between 12 to 18 months.
Ojeh’s case shines a light on the need for further research, awareness, and treatment options for glioblastoma patients. His family has not announced plans for a public memorial, but tributes and condolences have poured in from friends, colleagues, and fans of Sheinelle Jones, who has long shared her family life with viewers.

Legacy of Love, Family, and Purpose
In the midst of a busy career and parenting three children, Uche Ojeh prioritized his role as a supportive husband and father. His bond with Sheinelle was often mentioned by the journalist as the backbone of her success. In past interviews, she praised his unwavering support, especially as she juggled motherhood and a high-profile career in broadcast journalism.
His legacy lives on through the lives he touched personally and professionally. He was known for his humility, intelligence, and commitment to excellence. While his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, Uche Ojeh’s life remains a shining example of resilience, dedication, and love.
