*The last time I reviewed the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid was in 2023. And the model was very different – more nostalgic. But the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid S is a whole new take on the vehicle, and it’s giving adventure and sportiness. Let’s get into it.
The Look: The 2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid S builds on its compact‑SUV roots with sport‑inspired visual upgrades. On the exterior, it features some cute blacked-out badges, a smoked front Toyota emblem, matte-black heated mirrors, and color-keyed rockers and bumpers for a sleek, monochrome appearance. It’s definitely doing a thing for me. With 17‑inch silver alloy wheels and LED projector headlights, Toyota is not holding back on the fun and flare with this model. It’s up to date, gives all the fun features and keeps it cute for the sporty girlies.
Inside, it’s simple and practical. The S trim offers cloth upholstery, not my favorite, and a compact 4.2‑inch multi-information display. Front seats are manually adjustable, also not my favorite. But everything is still cute and cozy. One thing I do love about this vehicle is its compact package with lots of cargo space. Rear cargo space measures 21.5 cubic feet with seats up, easily expandable.
The Drive: Zippy when necessary, the Corolla Cross Hybrid S is a four-cylinder vehicle that isn’t giving the same power of the big hybrid dogs. But it still gets the job done. System output is 196 horsepower, leveraging its hybrid setup. So you know that fuel economy is doing what it needs to do at 45 mpg city and 38 mpg highway for a combined 42 mpg. The ride is comfortable, but not incredibly smooth. It’s got an off-roady handle to it, despite its size.
The Tech: Tech in the S trim is functional and user‑focused. It includes an 8‑inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, supported by a six‑speaker audio system. It’s a great vehicle to sit in traffic with because the sound is great. Passengers can find plenty of charging ports around the vehicle so everyone stays happy and well entertained.
The Corolla Cross Hybrid S includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0—featuring adaptive cruise, lane-keep and lane-trace assists, automatic high beams, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, and traffic-sign recognition.
Overall, the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid S is a fun drive, efficient ride, and well-rounded compact SUV that delivers all the necessities a daily drive would need. It’s a great fit for the daily commute or a little weekend trip a few hours Upstate. It’s perfect for hobbyists that need a little space in their cars for packages or want to do a quick trip to the beach with friends. It’s compact, which means easy parking. It balances everyday usability with the savings of hybrid efficiency—an all‑around package that hits the sweet spot between value and versatility.
