*Tory Lanez has reacted to reports that his prison cell was raided and his recording equipment was confiscated.
The rapper, who is serving ten years in prison after being convicted of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion, also suggested that his life might be at risk, Complex reports.
On Tuesday, Lanez explained in an Instagram post that the raid interrupted his weekly release, The Prison Tapes. He explained that the incident occurred because he was using the proceeds from the music series to assist in reopening legal cases for hundreds of inmates.
“I was placed in jail to suffer, to feel, and to witness firsthand the pain and oppression being inflicted upon the young black and brown men and women of my generation. I knew I had to change this injustice,” Lanez said.
“So, I made a plan that when I got to prison, I would figure out a way to record music and put all the proceeds towards the legal representation of my fellow inmates, giving them a once in a lifetime chance to go home to their families on appeal and resentencing,” Lanez explained.

The Toronto native revealed that he partnered with a legal firm named ‘UNITE THE PEOPLE’ to assist in reopening 500 cases as part of his “Hands of God Project.”
Lanez blames the “higher-ups” for halting the ongoing release of *The Prison Tapes*.
The rapper was sentenced to a decade in prison in August 2023 after he was found guilty of shooting ex-girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during an argument after a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in Los Angeles in 2020.
We reported earlier that Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, submitted an appeal to the California Court of Appeals in July. The court approved his request for “relevant evidence,” acknowledging “good reason” for its review, ENSTARZ reported.
“The court has read and considered Petitioner Daystar Peterson’s June 21, 2024 motion for relevant evidence brought pursuant to penal code section 745, subdivision (d), and the people’s June 26, 2024 opposition to Peterson’s motion for discovery,” the legal filing states.
“Good reason appearing, the motion for discovery will be considered together with Peterson’s pending petition for writ of habeas corpus filed on December 12, 2023,” the document concludes.
