*“I thought if they like it, they might be on it,” said Aaron Atkins about his new single “When Do We Love” featuring The Whispers. “I performed it live and The Whispers were at my show. When I got off stage The Whispers ran up to me and said they loved the whole show! They asked if I wrote that last song (‘When Do We Love’)…they said God wrote that song…the greatest compliment.”
The Whispers liked the song so much that, as Atkins thought, they agreed to be on the single for his new EP of the same name. Aaron is a Jazz/R&B singer who performs and sounds like a Broadway veteran. Bringing the audience in with his body language and moves. He has sung for the Pope at the Vatican and is also an actor whose credits include Switched at Birth, Emmy-winning Netflix’s “I Think You Should Leave,” and David. Atkins is a Broadway nominated artist because of his performance in his “Into the Cole” Show where he honors the works of Nate King Cole.
“My first acting job I was lead,” Aaron told me when asked about his acting portfolio.
The “When Do We Love” single released on February 23, 2024, and on March 20th you will find Aaron Atkins performing from his “When Do We Love” EP at the Catalina Jazz Club.
“I had this song (“When Do We Love”) in my head for a whole year,” He pointed out. “I had the lyrics to the song…the melody. I got pissed and said why are you not recording this song?!”
Then he decided to perform it in his shows, one where The Whispers were in attendance.
“I was on the phone with The Whispers,” Aaron continued. “They told me not to give away that song…they were trying to help me, and I asked them to sing on the (‘When Do We Love’) single…and Scotty said I didn’t think of that and said you are smart!”
